STUDENTS from Axholme Academy got a brief taste of college life as part of a recent ‘Pathways’ event.

Tutors from John Leggott College visited the Crowle school to show year nine students the range of courses available at the Scunthorpe college before they picked their GCSE options.

Some courses require specific GCSEs and students chose various subjects prior to the Pathways event, including psychology, law, philosophy, languages, English, creative arts, fun and business, science/maths and computing.

The event gave students valuable advice ahead of the next step in their educational progress and comments proved to be very positive.

Academy principal Joe Sellars said: “This was the first time we have organised this event with John Leggott and it went very well.

“It enables our students to find out about the wide range of courses at John Leggott so that the transition onto the right course at college will be smooth.

“We have always worked very closely with John Leggott and this is a another really useful development.”
