Power cut in Epworth

A POWER cut in the centre of Epworth lead to more than 100 properties being without electricity for over 12 hours yesterday (Monday).

A total of 123 properties on Chapel Street, High Street and The Mews were all affected on Monday, February 6, with the first reported power loss at 11.26am.

A Northern Power Grid spokesman said an underground cable fault caused the blackout.

He added: “We had an engineer on site by 12.45pm which would have been earlier but there were problems with the weather.

“The engineer discovered an underground cable fault and got a repair team out. Power was back on by 1.50am on the Tuesday and all repairs were done by 5.16am.

“We apologise to our customers who were affected by the fault.”
