How insensitive are BPFA?

In my opinion the Belton Playing Fields Association are not acting in the interests of Sport in the Community.

Having read the article in the Epworth Bells (Thursday July 8), I cannot believe how insensitive this BPFA committee are, in not supporting a local community focused football team.

The people running Epworth Colts are totally committed to introducing local kids from the Isle, to the great game of football, from the early grass roots level and they need local support - they should not be treated like this.

My son and many other Belton parents who attend Belton All Saints Primary School have played on the Belton playing fields for the Epworth Colts from the age of seven, although it seems like will be re-starting next season at Under 11's playing elsewhere.

In my opinion the BPFA is carrying out an injustice, both to the Colts, its footballers and the parents who pay monies to the parish council through rates, although I would like to point out that the Epworth Colts do not have access to the changing facilities within the main pavilion.

This is a facility that has to be used by all the community from all ages, not just for bowls and bingo.

I am quite prepared to not pay my parish council tax if this injustice goes ahead.

Why should the Epworth Colts have to bear these excessive increases - not in line with inflation!

I would like to see the BPFA pay back all monies that were granted to the Colts for the refurbishment of the Jubilee Pavilion too.

If we cant use the facilities, I don't see why we should pay for them!

Unhelpful

I am astonished at Alan Lenton's comments in last week's Bells (New home sought for your teams).

Having used the facilities of both the field and pavilion in Belton over many years, I am aware of traffic flow problems at certain times. Belton Playing Field Association has welcomed more and more users onto their site, and the parking issue is something for all users to resolve together, since BFPA do not have proper egress for their site.

If the BFPA 'cancelled the tenacy agreement' of the football club and then 'put together a season by season agreement', then it would appear that they have targeted the footballers. With their vast knowledge of how to gain grants, they have also limited the club's ability to access and future funding. It is the children who will lose out.

It looks as though the BPFA have acted in a deliberately unhelpful way, and certainly not in a way befitting an organisation with charitable status.

Thank you

CAN I just say a note of thanks to all that had been involved in Rescue Day at Crowle on Saturday.

A lot of time, effort and expense had gone into it, enjoyed by many. Good to see that community spirit and support.Jan Simm, Crowle.

Concert

The gazebos and picnic tables quickly sprout

And flags and banners flutter bright and gay

Folk from far beyond the Isle set out

For Belton's Playing Field to enjoy the day

The happy, chatting crowd swells more and more

Until, at last, in early evening, the concert starts

A local school band proudly perform their score

Their strains and melodies warm many hearts

This musical jewel in Belton's crown

Is loved and adored from near and far

A day of great pride and worthy renown

The scene is graced with many a star

The glittering stage lights up the darkening night

Emotions ebb and flow with the stirring song

A gamut of instrumental splendour brings delight

And waves of cheering echo loud and long

'Rule Britannia' then is heard

And now a sea of waving Union Jacks

Flashing fireworks then have the final word

The happy multitude on homeward ways makes tracks.

Disgusted

AS AN ex student of North Axholme School I would like to express my disgust at an incident that took place on Saturday July 10 at the Rescue Day in Crowle.

A member of staff from the school refused to pay the parking charges, they thought that they should be exempt from paying and abused their position by blatantly ignoring the pleas of the voluntary parking assistants to pay what was owed even though it had been explained that all the funds would go to Help for Heroes charity.

My concern is that this person supposedly promotes the relationship between school and the community, so surely in this position of authority they should set an exemplary example of this, not arrogantly abuse it out of school hours.

Or should students be expected to follow this example and behave accordingly to the standards set?
