I READ the story in last week's Epworth Bells with interest ('500 people against development in Epworth sign petition to council').

I am delighted people are taking the time out to comment on the Core Strategy, which sets the blueprint for the future of the whole of North Lincolnshire.

This Labour-run council has set out to ensure we consult and listen to the views of as many local people as possible. However, the way in which the process works means that one petition, even if it has got 500 signatures, only counts as one submission. I would urge everyone who wants to have their voice heard to send in an individual comment by the deadline on July 5. This means they will all be counted.

Further details are available on the council's website at www.northlincs.gov.uk or from Spatial Planning Department, Pittwood House, Ashby Road, Scunthorpe, DN16 1AB.
