Remembrance wreaths at Thorne

POPPY wreaths are now available to order from the Thorne branch of The Royal British Legion to mark next month’s Remembrance Day.

Legion members and the town council will mark Remembrance Day with a service at Thorne Park on Sunday, November 13.

This will be attended by the whole community of Thorne and Moorends, including veterans, cadets, youth organisations, schools and members of the public.

The parade will assemble at 10.30am and a minute’s silence will follow at 11am, followed by wreath-laying.

After this there will be a parade to St Nicholas’s Church, Thorne, where a special Service of Remembrance will begin at noon, all faiths welcome.

The service and parade will be led by piper Ian Ashley.

Anyone wishing to order a wreath should contact Brian Jones on 01405 816970, after 6pm.
