Band in BBC competition
TWO ISLE musicians are hoping they can play their way to success in a BBC competition.
Epworth's Chris Garbutt and Ryan Locker of Crowle are two members of the five-strong band 4Kicks, who have won a place in the regional final of the 'Live and Unsigned' competition to be staged at Sheffield City Hall on March 21.
The band won last year's Battle of the Bands at Scunthorpe, and have a full calendar of engagements in this area.
They also had one of their tracks played on Radio Humberside.
Eighteen-year-old Chris, from West End Road in Epworth, plays lead guitar, and Ryan, also 18, from Cross Slack in Crowle plays guitar and sings.
Fellow band members are Christos Spiteri (lead vocals/guitar) Joel Thomson (bass/vocals) and Chris Francis (drums).
On their Facebook social networking site the band urge as many fans as possible to make the trip to Sheffield. They say: "The audience has a part to play in the voting, so we need as many there as possible! You also get to see the best regional unsigned bands!"
They're even organising a coach to take fans to the gig, and were confident of filling its available seats.
