A FARMER has slammed the owner of two dogs who slaughtered three heavily pregnant pedigree sheep in an attack which left a scene of "carnage".
The horrific incident took place at Windmill Farm in Owston Ferry, an attack witnessed by Sharon Myers whose father, Colin, owns the farm.

She said: "Me and a neighbour saw it, there was carnage all over. These dogs just attacked the sheep, eating
them and going wild - it was horrific. Two sheep were dead and another died shortly afterwards. It was very distressing and all three were lambing, they would have given birth this weekend."

This is the second such incident in four years after Mr Myers lost six lambs in a similar incident when stray dogs devoured defenceless livestock back in 2006.

The latest attack - which claimed two Shetlands and a Hampshire breed - will cost Mr Myers at least £1,000 to replace the sheep and in other expenses.

"This was the worst case we have ever had and we had to clean up the mess, it was absolute mayhem," added Sharon (37).

Mr Myers was forced to destroy the two dogs - believed to be either husky or wolf-type breeds - for fear of further attacks, and he said he was disguested with the police, claiming officers showed a lack of interest in the attack.

He said: "What sort of people breed these animals? What sort of people keep dangerous animals like huskies and wolves and keep them in the middle of a village? If these animals hadn't been destroyed in our shed it could have been a child or someone on horseback or walking who could have been injured or killed.

"As for Humberside Police I'm disgusted with them but that doesn't bring back our three sheep, does it?"

A Humberside Police spokesman said an officer attended the incident which took place around 3pm on Wednesday, January 27.

They confirmed Mr Myers had shot the two dogs on his land, and added: "The dogs died at the scene and were later collected by their owner. Police attended the scene and no crime was committed."
