AN ESTABLISHED funeral director has invested almost £650,000 to upgrade its fleet of vehicles.

In a slight departure from tradition the Co-operative Funeralcare has opted for silver-coloured vehicles including two E Class Mercedes hearses and five limousines.

Shaun Varley, manager of the Doncaster premises in Spring Gardens, said: “This investment underlines our commitment to the highest standards in the provision of funeral services. Our staff are delighted that they have modern vehicles to help them do their jobs.”

The distinctive vehicles include the latest design features in terms of comfort and technology and will also be used by the company’s homes in Edward Street, Rossington and in Rotherham.

There are now sufficient vehicles to supply quite large numbers in the same colour if needed but families can still request traditional black vehicles.
