Chance to show off green fingered skills
BLOOMING MARVELLOUS: Residents from School Close in Epworth celebrate their two prizes in the recent North Lincolnshire Homes gardening competition.
TENANTS and leaseholders of North Lincolnshire Homes can once again enter their outdoor space into the 2012 Gardening Competition.
The competition last year was a great success with more than 50 entries showing off their brilliant outdoor spaces.
This year could prove to be even bigger and better, offering many prizes and possibilities of winning.
Entrants will be placed in one of four categories with the chance of winning high street vouchers.
All entrants of the competition will be placed in a free prize draw with the chance of winning some great gardening goodies.
In particular this year, North Lincolnshire Homes is looking for residents who have developed their outdoor space into something creative and original.
Environmentally friendly areas, vegetable plots and making the most of the available space is likely to catch the eye of the judges.
Senior Resident Involvement Officer Wendy Britcliffe said that the competition is a brilliant way for tenants to get involved with something they love, along with the chance of winning some great prizes. It also brings communities together in making their areas look more attractive.
She said: “There were so many fantastic entries last year, it was difficult to decide on the winners.
“We hope to see even more entries this year. There are categories to suit everyone, no matter what size outdoor space you have available.”
The categories are:
Best Kept Garden (individual) - For a beautiful front or back garden.
Best Community Garden - For groups or individuals who have created a garden for their community to enjoy.
Best Container/ window box/ hanging basket - Ideal for those living in flats or who have limited outside space. Also children can be involved.
Creative Use of Space - This could include vegetable, wildlife, organic or other themed garden.
Short listing and final judging will be carried out in July by a panel of tenants and gardening experts.
People can enter the competition online by visiting www.nlhomes.org.uk or using our Digi TV service, nltv.
Alternatively, entry forms are published in North Lincolnshire Home’ Key News magazine which goes out to tenants and leaseholders.
Entry forms are also available in the Customer Centre, Cole Street, Scunthorpe.
Follow North Lincolnshhire Homes on Twitter at www.twitter.com/nlhomes and Facebook at www.facebook.com/nlhomes for updates about the competition.
The closing date for entries is Friday June 22, 2012.
