CCTV footage of attack at Doncaster station
SHOCKING footage of a man being floored and needing surgery following a single punch has been released by police.
The video shows a man punching another man, 35, in the face breaking his jaw outside Doncaster railway station before walking off into the Frenchgate Centre.
British Transport Police (BTP) hopes the CCTV footage will help bring witnesses forward in order to trace the suspect.
DC Ian Grice, investigating the incident, said: “The victim fell to the floor and banged his head. He was taken to hospital by ambulance suffering from a fractured jaw and head injuries. He remained in hospital for a few days while he underwent surgery before returning home to recover from his ordeal.
He added: “This was a violent unprovoked assault on a man who was simply walking to the station to catch a train home. As the footage shows the station car park and surrounding area was very busy at this time of the assault and I’d appeal for anyone who may have witnessed this nasty incident or who may know who is responsible to come forward and help police with their investigation.”
The attacker is described as white, around 6ft tall with short dark hair. He was wearing a blue jacket and blue denim jeans and carrying a black and white JD Sports drawstring bag.
Anyone with information about the attack which happened on Thursday, December 29, at 5.45pm should call BTP on 0800 40 50 40 quoting background log B2 of January 16, 2012.
Information can also be passed on to Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.

Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 10:22 AMIts much easier to give someone a parking ticket than it is to face up to a thug. Some members of the Police force would rather ignore this kind of incident for fear of being attacked themselves other Police officers would get stuck in and arrest the thug. Ied like to see our Mayor go out with the local police on a Saturday night and see how the streets of Donny really are and give drivers a break.
