Future looks bright for run-down park
A NEW decade promises a brighter future for a run-down park in Crowle thanks to a group of local volunteers.
Efforts are being made towards taking Manor Park, located on Johnson's Lane, back to its former glory with volunteers determined to make it a place the whole community can use.
The Friends of Manor Park (FMP) was formed and also registered as a charity with one of its members, Oliver Saxon, keen to involve as many local residents as possible in the planned revamp.
"The park will be a space where all generations of Crowle can interact and enjoy the facilities," added Mr Saxon, of Kings Croft, Ealand. "It's important to us that there is something for everyone here and that is what makes this park different to the norm."
The aim is for the park to be used all year round by all sections of the community and the FMP is currently engaging in a consultation period with various local groups.
Old equipment has been taken away from the site, leaving a blank canvas for residents to put their ideas onto, and this will culminate in a 'space shaper' event to be held at the park itself on Saturday, March 20.
Mr Saxon added: "The discussions we've already had have led to some exciting ideas and the space shaper will be an excellent chance for the people of Crowle to tell us what they want to see in their space.
"As well as the survey and in keeping with the ethos of the park there will be other fun things do, so watch this space."
The group actively encourages those willing to give up their free time or to contribute ideas to come along to FMP meetings and the next one will be held next Monday, February 8, at the Lock Stock and Barrel, 7.30pm start.
