Get your walking boots on for local charity

DEARNE residents are being urged to pull on their hiking boots and take part in a walk for charity.

The walk will begin at Mexborough Library from 10am on Monday, March 12, before taking in a 1.4 mile route around town.

This is just one of a number of walks being organised across the borough as part of the Doncaster Walking Festival.

Each walk will be in aid of Doncaster civic mayor Eva Hughes’ charity the Aurora Centre, which helps people suffering from cancer.

The first walk in Bentley attracted around 160 residents.

Civic mayor Hughes said: “I really enjoyed joining residents on the launch walk and I am very much looking forward to joining more of the Festival’s walks later in the year. I am especially looking forward to four walks in February and March which will be in aid of the Civic Mayor’s Charity.

“These walks starting at Askern, Moorends, Mexborough and Tickhill will give residents an opportunity to get fit while supporting local cancer charity Aurora and local voluntary youth organisations.”
