CLIMBING high for Children in Need was an Isle youngster last week.
Six-year-old Harry Bassindale, from Burnham, got top marks for scaling the UK's highest climbing wall at Hill House School in Doncaster during last Friday's fundraising day.
Harry and his schoolmates, plus a very sporting ascent by the Bishop of Doncaster, the Rt Revd Cyril Ashton, raised 3,000 between them, and had a lot of fun.
Bishop Cyril said: "This is the first time I've been challenged to try a climbing wall, but I'm very happy to put my best foot forward for Children in Need."
The wall comes in three parts, with a lower nursery section for younger children, and two nine metre sections with different challenges.
Children with special needs from the local Coppice and Pennine View Schools were also invited to take part.
Organiser Michelle Lee, the school's charities co-ordinator, said: "We hoped to raise as much as possible for such a great cause - something our children have really taken to their hearts."
In 2008 Hill House staff and children raised over 2,000 with a sponsored chance to throw cold custard over volunteer staff on Children in Need Day; in the last academic year Hill House raised a total of 6,500 for charity.
