Old Rectory has new season of events

AN ISLE tourist attraction has announced its latest series of events.

The Old Rectory museum in Epworth reopened for its new season on Monday and has a host of events lined up to interest visitors.

The first gets underway today (Thursday March 4) when there will be a display of panels that have featured in BBC Radio Humberside's regional contribution to Radio 4's The History of the World in 100 Objects.

The radio station has been running a series of programmes plotting the history of mankind through a series of historical objects with the BBC's regional radio stations running their own mini version.

One of those featured was a micrography - a picture in words of John Wesley, one of the founders of the Methodist movement - which was created in 1850 and uses 14,000 words..

It, along with panels showing other things including a Neolithic jade axe head found at Wroot, will be on display.

Radio Humberside's creative producer, Olivia Cubberley, will be at the venue on Saturday March 13 - the last day of the display - and is inviting local people to go along and take their man-made items to a 'Bring Your Object' event.

She said: "We want people to bring along whatever they have that could be of interest. The history behind the object could be more important than the article itself."

On March 13 and 14, the Old Rectory museum is taking part in a Discover Lincolnshire weekend organised by North Lincolnshire Tourism.
