Plans to demolish derelict cottages for new house

AN application to demolish derelict buildings and replace them with a three bedroomed house was being considered by North Lincolnshire Council's Planning Committee yesterday afternoon as the Bells/Advertiser went to press.

The proposal is from Mr W Smith who wants to knock down derelict cottages 1 and 2, The Groves, Trentside, Amcotts, and then build a new house on the site. However, councillors were being recommended to turn down the application.

A report compiled by NLC officers points out that the site is located outside the village's development boundary and as such is in the open countryside.

Councillors were being recommended to refuse permission on the grounds that the building has been vacant, derelict and insufficiently maintained for a substantial period of time and as such any previous residential use of the property has been abandoned.

Another planning request being considered was from Mr A Drury, who wants permission for a change of use from agriculture to a mixed use of agriculture with a haulage yard at Rushcarr Farm, Clouds Lane, Beltoft. Councillors were being recommended to refuse permission

They were told that Mr Drury currently operates three HGVs from the site in connection with the agricultural business. The application seeks to increase this number to operate up to eight HGVs and 16 trailers from the site.

Refusal was being recommended on the grounds the proposal would constitute an unacceptable use in the open countryside, which would be harmful to the character and amenity of the open countryside and Area of Special Historic Landscape Interest.

A third Isle application being considered was from Mr S and Mrs D Dell, who were seeking permission for change of use to a beauty salon at 30 High Street, Crowle, and change of use of a beauty salon to ancillary residential use at 28 High Street, Crowle, including alterations to both front elevations. Councillors were being recommended to grant planning permission.
