School celebrates inspection success
ISLE children are celebrating this week as their school gained an outstanding report from schools' inspectors.
A growing number of Isle children attend the local independent school, Hill House, in Finningley, which is ranked one of the top four schools in Yorkshire and the Humber for its GCSE results, and has now gained the top accolade for an independent school.
As the school looks to open a Sixth Form in 18 months, its vision of giving every pupil a rounded, caring education has been amply justified, says its Principal, Epworth resident David Holland.
The report - the equivalent of an Ofsted inspection for a state school - says that the whole school provides outstanding pastoral support and guidance, with outstanding relationships between staff and pupils and between pupils.
Develop
The report notes that children in the Early Years (Nursery and Lower School/Foundation) part of the school 'learn and develop exceptionally well'. It adds that all children make rapid progress which is well above national standards.
Other parts of the report note that a significant number of parents described the school as excellent, and that pupils make progress that is above the average for pupils of similar ability.
David Holland said "We are all delighted by this report because it demonstrates that while Hill House achieves excellent academic results for its children, our philosophy of caring for a pupil's moral and social development underpins that excellence."
