Ship open to public

AN historic Isle sailing ship is throwing open its hatches to the public this weekend.

The Humber sloop Spider T made an epic voyage from Keadby to Rotterdam last year and it was subsequently the centre of attention at the city's World Port Festival.

It is believed the ship was the first vessel of its kind to complete a North Sea crossing since the 1920s.

Built in 1926 but only restored to sail in 2007, the sloop is on the Historic Ships Register and it will be open for viewing on the Stainforth and Keadby Canal at Keadby on both Saturday and Sunday.

Visitors are welcome between 10am and 4pm on Saturday and from 11am to 4pm on Sunday with free tea and coffee available.

Further details on the sloop are available from owner Mal Nicholson on 07739 863604 or by going to www.spidert.co.uk
