Vote to help musician on his way to stardom

A DRUMMER is urging music fans to get texting as his band seeks to secure a £20,000 contract in the final of a national talent competition on Saturday.

Daniel Harvey, of West End Road, Epworth, is one-quarter of Rupert, Henry and the Revolvers, one of only 15 acts who have battled their way from an original 10,000 entrants through to the grand final of UK Live and Unsigned 09.

They will be performing at Portsmouth's Guildhall venue in front of celebrity judges Malcolm McLaren, the former Sex Pistols manager, Atomic Kitten Liz McClarnon and Future Music's Chris Grayston, creator of Live and Unsigned UK.

The stakes will be high and the pressure intense as each act will have only 3 minutes to perform a cover track - and their own song - in the pop/rock section.

"It does work but it's quite a challenge in a short amount of time, the important thing is to impress the judges," explained Daniel, 16.

An enthusiastic following of over 60 friends and family will be going down to the south coast and the four are ready to take their chance.

"We are trying to raise our game and pull out all the stops, we want to put on a show and make it something really special," he added.

"There was a very high standard in the last round and it was very hard but it was really good to make it through to the national final. If we win we will be the best unsigned act in the country and it's just a great achievement to get this far - it will be a great atmosphere."

A 20,000 management contract with Future Music Management is the ultimate prize but the final decision is made via a combination of judges' decision and text votes.

To register support for Rupert, Henry and the Revolvers, text 'Unsigned60' to 84222 before 10.30pm on Saturday.

Calls cost 1 plus the usual network rate.
