Beacon for the Queen in Epworth

A celebration to mark the Queen's ninetieth birthday will take place in Epworth, hosted by the Chair and members of the Town Council.

Elderly members of the community in Epworth are invited to share in the cutting and eating of a celebration cake with tea and coffee provided, from 1pm to 3pm on April 21 at the Thurlow Pavilion.

At 7.30pm the Beacon will be lit for all to see, near to the Old Windmill accessed from Belton Road and close to the footpath by Fields Wood yard.

On that day, the Queen will be invited by her eldest son, the Prince of Wales, to light the Principal Beacon at Windsor Castle. Over 1000 further beacons will then be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, UK overseas territories and a Commonwealth country. Beacons on top of the Four Peaks, Ben Nevis, Mount Snowden, Scafell Pike and Slieve Donard, will be lit at 7.15pm with all others to be lit by 8.30pm.
