BADMINTON players at an Isle school have made it to the county final after sweeping all before them.
The year 11 team from Crowle's North Axholme School will represent North Lincolnshire at the Oasis Academy, Winteringham, alongside sides from North East Lincolnshire, East Riding and Hull.
Their way to the final was paved by an impressive 100 per cent record in the early part of the sport partnership competition when players in both singles and doubles matches recorded a perfect 25 wins out of 25.
This included victories against Isle rivals South Axholme Community School as well as teams representing Scunthorpe schools, St Lawrence Academy and St Bedes.
Next to be put to the sword at the play-off stage was a team from Brigg's Vale of Ancholme College and although the 100 per cent record perished, a convincing 4-1 victory set up next week's county showdown.
North Axholme's head of PE, Richard Sennett, was delighted with the team's success.
He said: "We set up our new badminton academy four years ago and we've had a lot of interest from the school and the wider community. There is training every lunchtime and on Wednesday nights we bring in outside coaching so we play a lot of badminton which is starting to pay off.
"The kids are loving it, they never miss a training session and are really keen."
The county final takes place next Thursday, February 11.
