SWIMMERS representing South Axholme Sharks collected a hatful of medals after impressing at a recent gala event held in Leeds.
The city's John Charles Aquatics Centre hosted the event and the Epworth-based club got off to a great start when Laura Jarvis knocked five seconds off her 'personal best' when she won the 50m butterfly.

Molly Flatters took second place in the same event which saw those in the nine to 10-year age bracket compete for honours.

Natasher Crow recorded a third place finish in the 11-12 year category with Lucy Goodwin taking fourth position for the 13-14 year group.

Crow then claimed sixth place in the 50m freestyle and Goodwin finished fifth in the 100m backstroke.

The impressive performances continued with Sophie Hame recording a deserved seventh place finish in the 11-12 years section.

And nine-year-old Laura Crow - competing in a major event for the first time - shaved three seconds off her personal best time in the 50m freestyle. The same event also saw Phillipa Smith coming in 11th for the 11-12 year swimmers.

The gruelling 200m race saw Hame secure runner-up spot, Natasher Crow finished sixth and Flatters eigth.

Annabel Bayford produced a stunning swim in this event by taking an incredible one minute 10 seconds off her entry time and four seconds off her 100m freestyle time.

Lisa Goodwin swam consistently in all six of her races and Bridie Smith added to the medal haul with a second place finish in the 13-14 years 50m breaststroke.

Flatters struck gold in a close 50m backstroke, just ahead of team mate Hame in second place.

And Goodwin recorded a seventh place finish in the 50m breaststroke, fourth in the 50m backstroke and eigth in the 100m freestyle.

Carah Chambers-Hey took the medal total to 16 with a great 100m freestyle swim, claiming seventh in the 11-12 years category.

Poolside coach Julia Crow commended all members on a great start to the 2010 season and anyone interested in joining the Sharks should contact Epworth Pool on 01427 875493.
