Angling by Roger Baker Gearing up for Spring Festivng

SOME good weights were taken at Garbolino Lindholme as the venue continues to gear up for next month’s Spring Festival.

Tuesday’s match on Bonsai lake was won by Mark Booth (Garbolino Lindholme) from peg 48 where he fished pole and meat for 118-11-0 of small carp.

He was followed by Steve Dyson (Garbolino Lindholme) 89-6-0 and 3 Jet Harris (Lindholme) 69-6-0.

The Thursday match on Bonsai saw John Allerton (Tricast) take top spot from peg 52 with 79-12-0 of carp taken on the pole and meat, followed by 2 Alan Scotthorne (Drennan) 78-5-0, 3 Wayne Ibbotson (Kerrs Tackle) 67-5-0.

Saturday’s match on Bonsai and Oasis saw Sean Cameron (Marukyu) lead the field of 33 from peg 7 on Oasis with 107-13-0 of carp on the pole and meat.

Runner up Pete Riley (Garbolino Lindholme) fished corn and pellet from peg 35 for 106-13-0, followed by 3 Steve Rothery (Garbolino Lindholme) 98-6-0.

Nick Speed (Shimano) won the Sunday match on Oasis from peg 53 with 99-15-0 of carp taken on the pole and meat.

Craig Thompson (Garbolino Lindholme) was second with 97-5-0, ahead of 3 Steve Cook (Garbolino) 87-4-0.

This year’s Garbolino Lindholme Spring Festival is to be held for five days from Monday, May 21 to Friday, May 25.

A £5,000 prize fund is up for grabs, as well as pole and tackle prizes from sponsors Garbolino.

Entry is £120 all-in, which includes evening food in the clubhouse.

* Pete Dobson (Sheffield) won the Barnburgh over 50s match, held on the top pond on Tuesday, from peg 13 with 44-8-0 of F1’s caught on the pole and pellet.

Runner up Alf Head (Thurnscoe Coronation) 40-12-0 was followed by 3 R Calvert (Barnburgh) and Andy Shoepack (Barnburgh) both 37-0-0.

The Thursday evening match saw Alf Head (Thurnscoe Coronation) finally end the 17-match unbeaten run of Gary Jubb.

Head won with 54-8-0 of F1’s from peg 24 and Jubb had to settle for second with 42-0-0.

Sunday’s match was also fished on the top pond and won by Craig Leeland (Hemsworth) who had 101-0-0 of F1’s on pole and pellet from peg 20.

Runner up Nicky Crookes (Hemsworth) 91-12-0 finished ahead of 3 Dale Shepherd (Hemsworth) 62-0-0.

Moat pool, Tuesday afternoon, 18 fished: 1st Steve Robbins (MAP Leegem) 68-10-0, ten carp and a few skimmers on pole with corn and pellet, peg 43 island. 2nd Richard Teigh (Handsworth) 60-6-0 3rd Andy Oldham (Maltby) 59-8-0 4th Nick Speed (Shimano) 53-0-0 5th Chris Line (Hallcroft) 47-10-0.
