Crowle Keys get back to winning form

Crowle Keys 5 DSV 2

SEVEN days ago Keys went down to their heaviest defeat of the season but a week is a long time in football as anyone who witnessed last Sunday's debacle would tell you.

DSV were the opposition just as they were on the opening day of the season when Crowle got off to a winning start.

Liam Harrison scored the winner that day and had the ball in the net early in this game only to see the linesman raise his flag for offside.

It was against the run of play that DSV took the lead when one of their forwards received a through ball, outpaced the defence and shot past Graeme Fletcher.

Harrison equalised with a half volley from the edge of the area which squeezed under DSV's keeper and Mark Easthope gave Keys a 2-0 half-time lead with a smart finish from a similar distance.

The home side were playing their best football of the season with Josh Simpson and Matthew Teal in dominant form in midfield and extended their lead when a crisp move involving Liam and Daniel Harrison and Easthope enabled Simpson to find the net with a cool finish.

Apart from a couple of first half corners DSV rarely caused Crowle's defence any distress although they did pull a goal back when a cross from the right was met at the back post by a sweetly struck volley.

Any fears that Keys supporters might have had disappeared soon after though as substitute Jason Cook latched on to a pass from Liam Harrison and scored his first goal for the club.

Simpson scored his second when he drilled a shot into the bottom corner after dribbling through DSV's midfield and had he not hesitated in front of an open goal in the first half would have been celebrating a hat-trick.

The final score of 5-2 was Keys biggest victory of the season (so far) and they will be aiming to maintain their good form when they travel to Barnetby for a sterner test on Sunday.
