Knights will start tomorrow’s second leg at Ashton Gate 28-13 behind but Quigley insists there is still life left in the tie.

“Obviously we’d have preferred to be taking a lead there instead of a 15-point deficit but it’s not mission impossible,” said Quigley.

“We know that Bristol are a very good side and no question they were the better side on the night at Castle Park.

“They put us under a lot of pressure and kept the ball well and were clinical when they had chances to score.

“But even though we’d not played particularly well in the first half and dropped a lot of ball, we still led at half time which shows we can beat them as we’ve already done this season.

“They got on top in the second half but we dug deep – and all credit to the replacements - and came close to a second try near the end.

“Obviously the goal will be to score early and put the first points on the board and if we can do that we’d be right back in it.

“Who knows how they would handle the situation if that were to happen?

“We know we’ve got to play a lot better with ball in hand and we’ve got to build pressure on their line.

“We also need to give our backs the sort of opportunities we’ve given them most of the season because they’ve regularly shown what they can do when they get the chance to display their finishing skills.”
