Ladies team hit three

Epworth Ladies 3 Hull Circle 1

IT was Epworth Ladies first game for several weeks, and they were slow off the mark.

Hull took advantage of this and were soon on the attack.

After some excellent defending from Robyn Carr and Fiona Chester, Hull broke the defence and scrambled the ball over the line for the first goal of the game.

Epworth responded and picked up their game. After some good midfield play between Esther Latham and Jenni Owen, the passess were soon finding Claire Coulman and Helen Lightburn in dangerous positions.

Epworth managed to win a free hit, which was taken by Nicola Young and picked up by Claire to score the equaliser for Epworth.

Epworth continued to push forward with some excellent passing between Kathryn Young and Emily Fordham, and kept the score at 1-1 at half time.

Epworth continued in the second half in the same manner they had finished the first - with most of the possession.

And with some excellent battling in the D from Aimee, Epworth won a long corner.

This was taken by Paula, and picked up by Emily at the back post who fired home the second goal of the game for Epworth.

Hull retaliated, causing Fiona and Kayeligh at the back to make some crucial clearances out of Epworth's D.

Epworth continued to battle hard and this was rewarded after April received a well-timed pass from Jenni and placed the ball in the back of the net to score Epworth's third goal of the game, giving them a much needed win.

Players's Player of the Match went to Esther Latham and Umpire's Player went to April Butterick. Epworth are away on Saturday to Wintringham.
