AFTER two cancelled dates because of bad weather, the Isle of Axholme Golf Society eventually played for the Robinson Trophy at their monthly outing on Sunday, January 24 at the Lincolnshire Golf Course.

The format was eighteen holes played in a medal competition and after play the prizes were presented by the captain and secretary Tom Sanders.

First place was taken by Andy Mallaburn with a net score of 66, and second by Steve Green with 70. There was a tie for third place with 71 and after a count-back the prize went to new member Nigel Forrest.

The longest drive on hole 15 was won by Brian Ward.

Nearest the pin competition on hole 11 was won by Nigel Forrest, and that on hole 16 (after two shots) by Tom Sanders.

The best team was Steve Green, Mark Clayton and Lee Birch with an average net score of 78.

The next society outing will be at the Grange Park Golf Club (Messingham) on Wednesday, February 24 at 10.30am when all members and their guests are welcome.

Non-society members are welcome by arrangement with Tom Sanders (01724 712089), and annual membership is open to all on payment of 20 which will cover all 2010.
