Nine year old Ben goes for gold

GOING for gold was a young martial arts expert from the Isle recently.

Nine-year-old Ben Carson of Vinehall Road in Haxey took part in the Taekwondo German Internationals in Sindelfingen, Germany, last weekend and beat off the opposition for top spot success.

Ben, who is a pupil at Haxey CoE Primary, has been training at the Scorpion Taekwondo Club for two years under the watchful eye of Tony Morgan.

Mum Claire Allen said: "He enjoys the sport and has been competing in competitions for about a year he also competed in the National Championships in Manchester in May last year and won bronze.

"He regularly competes in 1-1's at the Dome in Doncaster and at the Leisure Centre in Knottingley where he has won another three 1st trophies. He also has won silver in a competition in Barnsley."

Ben would like to further his career in taekwondo, or in his other passion which is football, he plays for Epworth Colts unders 10s.
