School pupils run away with success

TWO Year Nine students from South Axholme Community School in Epworth have qualified to run in the English Schools Championship in Birmingham on Friday July 9 and Saturday July 10.

The 14-year-old girls - Stephanie O'Connor and Rachel Shaw - qualified through representing North Lincolnshire in the Humberside championships early in June where they met the very challenging qualifying time.

They will now run for the Humberside Team. The girls will compete in the 100m heats and the relay, all of which will be televised live on Sky Sports.

Stephanie, who also runs for the Scunthorpe Athletics Club, and Rachel, who also runs for the Doncaster Athletics Club, are thrilled to have this opportunity and keen to test their ability against the UK's best.
