Town put away five goals after a disappointing first half
Messingham Colts 0 Epworth Town U10s 5
A SLUGGISH start to this game with few opportunities created, however, after a half time motivational talk, this soon changed.
After winning player of the match last week, Sophie Hibbert has continued to prove her worth, with her powerful throw-ins and great team play.
With a goal kick from the Messingham keeper who tried to flummox the Epworth team, it was swiftly collected by striker Nathan Wilson who took the ball round the back of the keeper, giving it a gentle tap into the back of the net.
The second goal came shortly after, with excellent passing between Nathan Wilson, Will Durning and Ben McCormack, but it was Ben who extended the lead with a strike that rocketed into the net.
Keeper Max Brinkley was having a relatively quiet game but anything that did come his way was quickly taken care of.
A great corner taken by Ben found a well placed Macauley Scott who took a shot but was unlucky not to score. Taking the score to 0-3 was Will Durning following some great build up play from Patrick Ford and Ben McCormack.
Defender Patrick Ford soon found an opportunity to take the ball down two thirds of the pitch on a great solo run and with a blistering strike further extended the lead to 0-4.
Some good ball play from Patrick Axe, Macca Nortcliffe and Alfie Ward opened up the game for striker Nathan Wilson who made a great run, outwitting the defence and taking the tally to 0-5 with a fine goal.
Man of the match was awarded to Ben McCormack
* The next game is on Saturday against Crosby JFC at Belton Playing Field. Kick off is at 10.30am.
