Try out sport with a difference

AN ISLE swimming teacher is hoping to inspire local youngsters to try out a sport with a difference.

Harriet Simm (18) is the former Scottish county champion in synchronised swimming and plans to pass on her expertise to others.

Harriet, of Queens Drive in Crowle, was just an eight-year-old when she got involved in the sport.

She will be a familiar face to Isle swimmers as she works as a level 2 swim teacher/lifeguard on Saturdays at Epworth's pool.

She is currently studying for a national diploma in animal management at Bishop Burton College near Beverley, she is hoping for a career in zoology.

Harriet and her mum, Jan, were recently asked to do a taster synchronised swimming session at the Misterton pool and found there was plenty of interest.

And now they are hoping to set up a local group, which will be open to boys and girls. Children interested must be able to swim, and should be approximately eight-years-old.

For more information contact Jan Simm on 07598962265 or Annette Gravel on 01427 754772.
